It is likely to be seen as an effort to game the system, and may result in the drafts being nominated for deletion. According to La Repubblica, the app’s STEM-focused games and educational stories develop children’s skills such as memory, attention, logic, and critical thinking.[1]

    About Marshmallow Games (Parent company)

    [edit | edit source]

Smart Tales is developed by Marshmallow Games SRL, an Italian education technology company that distributes educational apps for children worldwide.[3]

Cristina Angelillo, a digital entrepreneur from Bari, is the current CEO of Marshmallow Games, and she served as President of InnovUp from 2022 to 2024.[4][5]

In 2021, UNICEF Italy partnered with Marshmallow Games to distribute a digital stories collection about children's rights, focusing on topics such as “solidarity, gender inclusion, fair play, bullying prevention and respect for the environment.”[6]

In 2022, Smart Tales collaborated with Earth Day Italia, the European headquarters of the Washington-based NGO Earth Day Network, to release a collection of maze and puzzle games on Earth Day about respect for the environment.[7]

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, in 2022, Marshmallow Games completed a €2 million investment round led by CDP Venture Capital SGR and Sefea Impact SGR designated to further advance its flagship product, Smart Tales.[8]

In the same year, the company expanded the target audience for Smart Tales to elementary school students up to 11 years old.[9][10]

La Repubblica published an article stating that Cristina Angelillo and Smart Tales were selected for Apple’s App Store Foundation’s 2023 cohort, an Apple program that provides editorial support on the App Store as well as an opportunity to promote an app to millions of users worldwide.[11]

In 2024, La Repubblica reported that the company surpassed one million euros in recurring revenue.[12]

In 2020, Smart Tales received a Mom’s Choice Award in the “Apps & Software” category.[13]

The app was recognized with a National Parenting Product Award in 2021.[14]

In 2021, it also received an Academic’s Choice “Smart Media” Award.[15]

HowtoLearn.com awarded Smart Tales the Parent and Teacher Choice Gold Medal in 2021.[16]
