Scott Singer is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the 35th Mayor of Boca Raton, Florida, since 2018.[1] He was re-elected in 2020 and ran unopposed in the 2023 mayoral election.[1] Prior to becoming Mayor, he served on the Boca Raton City Council since 2014.[1]

Education and Career

Singer was born in South Florida and attended Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, graduating in 1994.[2] He later attended Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government, graduating cum laude. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center. [1]

Singer has practiced law as a business attorney for more than two decades.[3] He is certified as a circuit mediator by the Florida Supreme Court and has been involved in small business ownership.[4]

Mayor of Boca Raton

Singer assumed office as mayor in 2018.[1] During his tenure, the city has adopted policies related to public safety, municipal finance, infrastructure, and economic development.[1][5][6][7][8]

The city increased compensation for Boca Raton Police Department officers during this period.[9] Reported crime rates in Boca Raton have remained below national averages.[10][11]

Under Singer’s administration, the city reduced its millage rate while continuing to fund municipal services, including public safety and infrastructure.[1][12][13]Boca Raton has been cited as having one of the lower property tax rates among Florida cities offering a full range of municipal services.[1][14]

Singer supported planning efforts that resulted in the construction of a new public school in Boca Raton, adding approximately 1,200 student seats.[1][15][16][17][18]He also supported initiatives leading to the establishment of a Brightline intercity rail station in Boca Raton.[19][20][21][22]
