Rubaba Dowla (Bengali: রুবাবা দৌলা) is a Bangladeshi businesswoman, corporate executive and women's sports organizer.[1][2] She has been elected as the second female director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).[3][4][5][6]
Educational life
[edit | edit source]Rubaba Dowla Completed her BBA and MBA degrees from Dhaka University. Later, she completed higher degrees from the Stockholm School of Economics and the London Business School. Popular Nazrul Sangeet artist Firoza Begum is her aunt.[7][8]
Career
[edit | edit source]Rubaba Dowla served as the Chief Communications Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Grameenphone. During her time in this organization from 1998 to 2009, she established herself as a strong female executive in the corporate sector of Bangladesh. During this time, she became a familiar face in the sports arena. She also played a significant role in establishing the Mirpur Cricket Academy in 2007, a joint venture between Grameenphone and BCB.[9] She then served at the top level of Airtel Bangladesh. Later, she joined the multinational technology company Oracle Corporation as the Country Director for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.[10][11][12]
Contribution to sports
[edit | edit source]Rubaba Dowla served as the President of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation from 2009 to 2015. At the same time, she also served as a board member of Bangladesh Special Olympics. On 3 November 2025, the National Sports Council (NSC) officially nominated her to the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).[13][14]
Awards and recognition
[edit | edit source]Rubaba Dowla won the Anannya Top Ten Awards in 2006 in recognition of the contribution of women in business and management.[15][16]
