RoomSketcher is a floor planning software for macOS, Windows,[1][2] iOS, and Android tablets, available for both professional and personal users.
The app enables users to create, import, and order floor plans. 2D and 3D Floor plans, 360-degree and walk-through visualizations can be generated to provide a virtual reference for the planned space.
RoomSketcher is available through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. Its core features are primarily available through a downloadable app with cloud-saved projects. Additional functionality is available through a web portal.
History
[edit | edit source]RoomSketcher was released in 2008 under the name Viseno Home Designer, developed by Viseno.no AS,[3] now RoomSketcher AS, based in Oslo, Norway.[4]
Viseno was founded in March 2007 by Stein Kjartan Vik, as an offshoot of Xvision, a 3D Visualization company working within the Norwegian offshore and subsea market since 1999. Kjartan Vik previously served as the company's Sales and Marketing Director. Trond Bergquist has served as CEO since 2008.
In 2011, Viseno Home Designer changed name to RoomSketcher Home Designer. The company's Chief Marketing & Sales Officer Trine Bretteville cited an expansion in the software's scope and user base as a reason for the change. The software was rebranded to RoomSketcher in 2016[5] alongside the release of an iPad and Android Tablet-based version of the app.[6]
RoomSketcher was initially developed and launched as an online Flash-based software. With the discontinuation of Adobe Flash support in 2017, RoomSketcher was released as a downloadable app on Windows and MacOS desktops.
