Pedro Alejandro Chou Rodríguez (born 20 September 1982) is a Costa Rican electronics engineer, project manager, technologist, entrepreneur and mathematician currently working in number theory as an independent researcher. He is best known for submitting a proof, not yet fully published, of Goldbach's conjecture.

Early life and education

Pedro Chou was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on 20 September 1982 to Hung-Chyi Chou Yu, a Taiwanese diplomat, and Virginia Rodríguez Segura, a Costa Rican medical doctor. He is the youngest of two children (Mainrad and Pedro). He graduated from Latin University of Costa Rica in 2005. In 2005 and 2005 he studied Chinese Mandarin language in South China Normal University. He received his Master's degree in Telematics from the same university in 2008...[1]

Career

Chou worked as an engineer in several technology companies after his graduation in Costa Rica, including TriQuint Semiconductor. In 2007 he started his own company for industrial automation and network projects professional services called E-Components. In 2014 he moved to China where he worked as an electronics and electrical engineering lecturer in Shaoyang University from 2015 to 2016 and in Hubei University of Technology from 2016 to 2017, where he was involved in several technology projects.[2][3][4] He later worked in several high schools as physics teacher and eventually worked as project manager and maintenance manager in different companies across China. He worked in Cambodia as maintenance manager for Vinci Airports at the Sihanouk International Airport in 2022. Pedro Chou started a new company in 2023 called Panga, related the mobile applications and tourism. In 2024 he took interest in Number theory and started working as an independent researcher in this field.[5]

Personal life

On 20 January 2011, Pedro Chou married Ruizhen Wei, daughter of Jack Wei, a store owner in Guangdong, China and Wendy Wei. The couple married in Guangzhou, China. Ruizhen Wei is a professional in administration and she has a master's degree in Logics from South China Normal University. The couple has one child.

Research

In 2025, he released a paper of a new formula for counting prime numbers[6]

In 2025, Pedro Chou also released a paper claiming to be a proof of Goldbach's conjecture[7]

Awards

In 2007, Pedro Chou received the TriQuint Extra Mile Award for his work as product engineer.

In 2015, he was awarded the Second prize in the Evaluation of 2014 - 2015 Academic Year for his work as electronics engineering lecturer.
