Dinesh Kumar Singh (D K Singh) is an Indian Aerospace engineer and space scientist currently serving as the Director of the Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), Bengaluru a major Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
Early life and education
[edit | edit source]Singh holds a Masters degree in Electronics and Communication engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi and a degree in Electronics Engineering from HBTI, Kanpur. [8][1]
Career
[edit | edit source]Singh has over 35-years experience with ISRO, where he worked in different capacities such as Distinguished Scientist, Deputy Director of the Human Space Flight & Advanced Technology Area (HSTA); and Associate Director (Research and Development) at the Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad. [1]
He was part of the team that involved in the realisation of Indian National Satellite System-2 (INSAT-2) series, the NavIC or Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, crew communications for the Gaganyaan mission, space-based quantum communication, laser communication systems, and atomic frequency standards.[1][9][10]
Recognition and awards
[edit | edit source]Singh received the ISRO Merit Award in 2013,and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI) Award in 2018. He also served as an elected member of the International Academy of Astronautics in 2022. [8]
