Christopher Ning (born 1988) is a Canadian theatre actor and singer-songwriter. He is best known for his work in the Canadian production of Titanique, for which he won the 2025 META Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance.
Early life and education
[edit | edit source]Ning was born in Toronto and raised in Mississauga, Ontario.[1] He attended Cawthra Park Secondary School from 2002 to 2006, where he was enrolled in the Regional Arts Program, majoring in vocal music and minoring in drama.[2] He subsequently attended the University of Western Ontario from 2006 to 2007, studying in the vocal program under Todd Wieczorek.[2]
Career
[edit | edit source]Theatre
[edit | edit source]After a five-year hiatus from performing, Ning returned to the stage to make his professional debut in the Canadian premiere of Titanique, a musical parody featuring the music of Céline Dion.[3] The production was staged at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts and later presented by Mirvish Productions at the CAA Theatre in Toronto. Ning performed multiple roles, including the Seaman, the Iceberg, and Peabo Bryson.[4] In December 2024, Ning was featured on Global News alongside co-star Constant Bernard to discuss the production's impact and its tribute to the legacy of the film and Dion.[5] His performance received critical praise for its comedic versatility. BroadwayWorld noted that "Ning’s vocal prowess is on full display," while Ludwig Van Toronto described him as a performer who "comes close to stealing the show."[6][7] In 2025, Ning won the META Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance for his work in the production.[8] In 2025, Ning played King Herod in Drayton Entertainment's production of Jesus Christ Superstar.[9] He has also performed the roles of Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors and the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz with TheatreTO.[1]
Music
[edit | edit source]Ning is an alternative rock artist and songwriter. His debut album, Losing My Faith (2007), was named "Album of the Year" by Toronto Exclusive Magazine.[10] In 2021, he released his second studio album, Digital God.
