Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, better known as Azad Majumder (আজাদ মজুমদার), is a Bangladeshi journalist. He has been appointed as the Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.[1][2][3][4][5][6] He is also one of the members of the five-member search committee formed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to carry out rational reforms in the field of sports.[7][8][9][10]
Early life and education
[edit | edit source]Azad Majumder was born on 31 March 1977 in Chauddagram, Comilla. He graduated with honors in 1999 and a master's degree in 2000 from the Department of Journalism, University of Dhaka. After completing his studies, he started his career in sports journalism.
Career
[edit | edit source]Azad Majumder was appointed as the Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on 22 August 2024. He was previously working as the Joint News Editor of the English daily New Age. He has also worked for several local and international media outlets.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
Publications
[edit | edit source]Azad Majumdar's book 'Inside the Pressbox' was published at the 2023 Amar Ekushey Granth Mela. In the book, he highlights his experiences in a journalism career spanning more than two decades.[18][19][20][21]
