I think you didn't mean WP:BLP1E, because the guy already died :) But I found WP:BIO1E policy, anyway, so I got what you meant.
Well, I don't think Antonio Docampo García is notable just for one event. He didn't get much media attention till he died, that's true. But being a centarian or being a winemaker aren't events, unless we consider his death to be "one event the person known for", and it definitely wasn't his death that got all the media attention.
Personally, I heard about him first time recently. His story was used in a viral meme in a language that wasn't English neither Spanish. And it almost passed a decade since the old man's death. I wanted to fact-check the story, and I found out that there was no Wikipedia article about him, so I had to go through various articles, some of them were just tabloids.
He does pass WP:NPERSON: more than enough third-party media coverage and long interest to the biography.
Also, I checked if there any recent mention in Google Scholar now and found a 2021 German book that uses his story. I added the ref to the article.

Antonio Docampo García (c.1908 – 2 February 2016) was a Spanish winemaker from Ribadavia, Galicia. He was known for claiming that his longevity was due to regular consumption of red wine produced from his own vineyards.[1][2]

Biography

[edit | edit source]

Antonio Docampo García was the last native inhabitant of the now-abandoned hamlet of Eira de Mouros. Born into a poor rural family, he began working at the age of nine, breaking stones for the construction of the road from Val de Pereira (gl) to Cenlle. His strength earned him a small wage increase when he was assigned to push wooden-wheeled carts filled with stones.[3][4]

During the Spanish Civil War, he served with the Nationalist forces. He survived several near-death experiences, including being discovered by an opposing sentry while sick with the flu, nearly starving with his unit after getting lost, and narrowly escaping danger in a deserted village. His brother died in the war, fulfilling a pact they had made that Antonio should survive to support his family.[3][5]

After the war, Docampo García dedicated his life to agriculture and winemaking. He cultivated his own vineyards and produced wine under the family label, Bodegas Docampo. He attributed his health and long life to drinking only the wine he made himself, avoiding other beverages such as water or soft drinks.[3]

He managed a family-run vineyard business and sold wine locally under the label Bodegas Docampo. In later life, he became widely mentioned in Spanish newspapers after reports of his age and drinking habits circulated internationally. His story had been cited in popular media discussions of traditional Galician diets, moderate wine consumption, and longevity.[3][6]

Docampo García spent the last 12 years of his life in Vigo. He died of pneumonia[7] in Ribadavia at the reported age of 107. He was of the 138 centenarians recorded in Vigo at the time. He was buried at Alcabre cemetery, Pontevedra.[3][5]
