Scotland articles missing coordinates are categorised according to definitions in Local government areas of Scotland 1973 to 1996, which provided for 12 top level entities. Orkney and Shetland are combined into a single category, and Edinburgh & Glasgow have discrete categories because of the concentration of articles concerned with these two cities.
