Aglientu (Gallurese: Santu Francìscu di l'Aglièntu) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Gallura North-East Sardinia in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 210 kilometres (130 mi) north of Cagliari and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Olbia. It has a population of 1,184.[2]
Aglientu borders the following municipalities: Aggius, Luogosanto, Santa Teresa Gallura, Tempio Pausania, Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola.
In 2005 Aglientu hosted the Kitesurf World Cup. It is home to the Festa del Turista ("Tourist's Feast").
Demographics
[edit | edit source]As of 2025, Aglientu has a population of 1,184, of whom 50.3% are male and 49.7% are female, compared to the nationwide average of 49.0% and 51.0% respectively. Minors make up 11.6% of the population, and seniors make up 32.1%, compared to the Italian average of 14.9% and 24.7% respectively.[2]

Immigration
[edit | edit source]As of 2024, the foreign-born population is 135, making up 11.5% of the population. The 5 largest foreign nationalities are Romanians (29), Germans (22), French (15), Swiss (8) and Hungarians (6).[5]
