To be used to provide Tor/Onion links, analogously to {{URL}}. Provide the domain name, without .onion, as the first parameter.

You can use this template in a few forms, depending on if you need the link to have a sub domain, sub-directory, or the link is whitelisted.

Non autoconfirmed users may encounter filter 231 when attempting to add Onion urls. To prevent this, refrain from putting a space between the template and the url. Write {{Onion URL|URL}}, not {{Onion URL| URL}}.

IMPORTANT: Currently wikipedia has a blacklist on most .onion links. Before using this template to produce hyperlinks, it is necessary to request a whitelisting of the intended link! Current whitelisted sites (as of 19 Sep 2023 -- search the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist for the string ".onion" to find all whitelisted sites):

  • facebookcorewwwi.onion
  • facebookwkhpilnemxj7asaniu7vnjjbiltxjqhye3mhbshg7kx5tfyd.onion
  • silkroadvb5piz3r.onion
  • eqt5g4fuenphqinx.onion
  • dstormer6em3i4km.onion
  • eqt5g4fuenphqinx.onion
  • assmkedzgorodn7o.onion
