This template is the project banner for '''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Writing systems|WikiProject Writing systems]]''', a WikiProject concerned with the improvement of content, coverage and organisation of articles and other materials relating to [[writing system]]s.

The template is to be placed on '''talk pages''' of the articles identified as being within the Project's scope (at or near the top of the talkpage). It contains some brief information and links for the Project, and also an expandable view of the Project's current priority open tasklist.

This template automatically assigns the appropriate subcategories of [[:Category:WikiProject writing system articles]] to the articles' talk pages. This category and other associated Project categories are used in various ways by the Project in the overall management of the Project's workload.

This template contains several (optional) parameters, details of usage are given below.
