This template should be placed on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Allpages|namespace=9}} MediaWiki talk pages]</span> and a corresponding documentation page for the MediaWiki page itself should be created in the [[mw:Manual:Interface|MediaWiki interface manual]]; system messages are best documented on MediaWiki's corresponding <code>qqq</code> pages, e.g. [[MediaWiki:Readonly lag/qqq]], which can be updated for all MediaWiki installations on [[translatewiki:|translatewiki.net]] ([[translatewiki:FAQ#How do I find information on the system messages?|FAQ]]; [[mw:Localisation#Message_documentation|technical information]]).

Despite the wording of the message when viewed here, this page is not part of the interface and is not protected.

Alternately, a brief explanation of the MediaWiki page's function can be provided directly in the template, which changes the wording of the manual page notice: <code><nowiki>{{Interface explanation|Brief explanation}}</nowiki></code> resulting in:
