The pink blind legless skink (Typhlosaurus vermis), also known commonly as Boulenger's blind legless skink and Boulenger's legless skink, is a species of lizard in the subfamily Acontinae of the family Scincidae. The species is native to southern Africa.[2]
Description
[edit | edit source]Adults of T. vermis usually have a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 20–25 cm (7.9–9.8 in), which is long for the genus.[3] Boulenger described the rostral and mental as "enormous", and the body scales as "tetragonal".[4] The body color is fleshy pink.[3]
Geographic range
[edit | edit source]T. vermis is found in Namibia[1] and South Africa.[1][2]
Habitat
[edit | edit source]The preferred natural habitat of T. vermis is coastal sand dunes with sparse vegetation,[3]: 138 at altitudes from sea level to 900 m (3,000 ft).[1]
Reproduction
[edit | edit source]T. vermis is ovoviviparous.[2] Litter size is three young.[3]
