Usage

This template creates a {{cite web}} citation to individual pages at Lighthouses of Australia Inc., a useful reference site on the Lighthouses of Australia.

Parameters

• There are three mandatory unnamed parameters:

1. the postal abbreviation of the state name, e.g. TAS or NT, capitalized
2. the lighthouse name, from the url
3. title

For example, the Cape Wickham Lighthouse page url is http://www.lighthouses.org.au/lights/TAS/Cape%20Wickham/Cape%20Wickham.htm. The parameters are

1. TAS
2. Cape%20Wickham
3. Cape Wickham Lighthouse or The Cape Wickham Lighthouse on King Island as the author see fits

The full citation is

• In special cases with non-standard url, use the url3 field to indicate the last part of the url. For example, the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse page is http://www.lighthouses.org.au/lights/NSW/Point%20Perpendicular/Pt%20Perpendicular.htm. The last part of the url is not Point%20Perpendicular but Pt%20Perpendicular. So a full citation will be

• In addition, date and access date can be specified using the date and access-date fields. The date of writing can be found on the lower left corner of each page, "Page last updated:".

• Error checking is done only on the state, thus using {{cite loa |SA |Cape%20Wickham |Cape Wickham Lighthouse}} will result in an error:

/Cape%20Wickham /Cape%20Wickham.htm "Cape Wickham Lighthouse". Lighthouses of South Australia. Lighthouses of Australia Inc. {{cite web}}: Check |url= value(help)

However, using a non-existing page results in a link to a non-existing page, thus using {{cite loa|TAS|Cape%20Forrestier|Cape Forrestier Lighthouse}} results in:

Harvard style referencing

This template provides a simple Harvard style reference, using {{sfn|Lighthouses of Australia Inc}} or {{harvnb|Lighthouses of Australia Inc}}, as appropriate. However, year referencing is not supported at this time.

One can also specify the ref parameter to use other tags.
