The sculptured sea catfish[3] (Notarius kessleri) is a species of catfish in the family Ariidae.[4] It was described by Franz Steindachner in 1876, originally under the genus Arius.[2] It inhabits brackish and marine waters in Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama. It reaches a maximum total length of 45 cm (18 in), more commonly reaching a TL of 40 cm (16 in).[4]
The sculptured sea catfish is currently ranked as Least Concern by the IUCN Redlist.[1]
