Marco Antonio Speck Gurrola[1] (born January 10, 2006), known professionally as Lumi Athena, is an American-Mexican singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born and raised in Guadalajara, Lumi began releasing music in 2022. His music became popular on TikTok and SoundCloud in 2023,[2] and his songs "Smoke It Off!", "Let Me See Ya Move!," and "Icewhore! " all reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and the former of all was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[3] He is the pioneer and founder of Krushclub[4][5][6] and is currently signed to 25/7 Records.[7]
Career
[edit | edit source]2022–present: "Smoke It Off, Let Me See Ya Move & ICEWHORE"
[edit | edit source]"Smoke It Off!",[8] Lumi Athena's debut single featuring Jnhygs, was released on November 21, 2022, through 25/7 Records. and stayed on the billboard charts alongside "Let Me See Ya Move" for 18–23 weeks straight.[9] On February 20, 2024, it received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[3]
Lumi Athena's breakthrough single, "Let Me See Ya Move!"[8] with Cade Clair,[10] appeared on the billboard charts. Released in July through 25/7 Records, the song has over 1.7 million U.S. streams and debuted at No. 26 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs.[10][11] During the week of November 3, 2023, 2 months later, the position of the song went to No.29.[12]
"Icewhore" became viral on TikTok and Reels sounds due to its usage in Mewing and Looksmaxxing meme videos in 2023 and 2024.[13] In the videos, the creators place a finger to their mouth, then point to their jawline to imitate mewing at viewers.[13]
