This non-free media file has been set up with as small a version as possible, to comply with Wikipedia's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. The current resolution has been manually selected to achieve as small an image as possible without destroying the image content. Because the image is a logo, the entire image is needed to properly convey the meaning intended, and to avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the image.

Low resolution?

The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as artwork on pirate versions or other uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork.

Purpose of use

For fair use on Un Certain Regard:

  • The image is placed at the top of article about the award, to show the primary visual image associated with the award, and to help the user quickly identify the work and know they have found what they are looking for.
  • This image enhances the article in which it is displayed, as it provides an immediate relevance to the reader more capably than the textual description alone.
  • Use of the image does not in any way harm the ability of the organization to carry out its works.
  • Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork.
  • Use of the logo visually identifies the company and its products in a manner that mere prose cannot, and meets all criteria in WP:NFCC.
  • The logo is provided by the Cannes Film Festival in the downloads portion of its website, for the specific purpose that it be used in just the manner it is being used on English Wikipedia.
