Summary
| DescriptionTypical Australian Rocker Switch.jpg |
English: The components of TWO switches are shown, together with a "Cutaway" view and a view of the switch connections.
While these switches are Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) devices, most are used as only Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) devices. In this regard, one may note that "Contact 2" has a small piece of plastic obstructing access to its connecting terminal, since access to this terminal is not required unless it is needed to use the switch as a SPDT switch. It should also be noted that the 'loop terminal" connection is NOT a part of the switching mechanism but is provided by the manufacturer as an insulated "connection point" for other items, such as a "Neutral" connection. This tends to obviate any need to provide auxiliary connection devices, such as "twist on" wire connectors.
