The image was released to the media for broad distribution by the subject's family, who it is believed would not lose profit from its further distribution. It is believed to be free for distribution and reuse. It has been extensively disseminated by civil rights and justice campaigns highlighting the subject's family's struggle for justice and in the news media, both TV, print and digital, since its first release.
