Summary
[edit | edit source]| Description | Suspect in the 1994 murder of Julie Pacey |
|---|---|
| Author or copyright owner |
Lincolnshire Police |
| Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Original publication: Police handout to the press, September 1994 Immediate source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-33694243 |
| Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Murder of Julie Pacey |
| Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | To identify the suspect in the case on the article about the crime, also meaning that it serves the purpose of identifying the subject of the article. Also it is the object of discussion in the article, when it refers to the "artist's impression" of the killer. The lines it specifically links to is "The girl involved would later help create an artist's impression of the ruddy-faced individual in overalls" and "The mysterious man became known as the 'overalls man'" |
| Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
No. The police produced only this artist's impression and although it represents the prime suspect it is not the image of any living person. A specific drawing also can't be 'replaced' directly with another one, it wouldn't be the same, and it certainly wouldn't be the same as the only police artist's impression |
| Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | Only used once at the top of the article to identify them, and only a portion is used and it's reduced in size to be tiny |
| Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
The image was released to the public for broad distribution by Lincolnshire Police, who would not lose profit from its further distribution. It is believed to be free for distribution and reuse. It has been extensively disseminated in the news media, both TV and print, since its first release in March 1988.
Also it's been cropped down and reduced significantly so they can just use the original if they want money from it, which is unlikely |
| Other information | The person it's supposed to be showing was estimated to be around 35 in 1994, so as of 2023 if they were still alive they would be in their 60s probably and obviously would look substantially different |
