The picture illustrates the "absurd symbolism" of Scully's near death experience that were commented upon by reviews (See "Reception" in the parent article). The entire subplot of Scully being abducted and almost dying, hence the near death experience in this scene, was created due to Gillian Anderson's pregnancy, which is discussed in the "Production" section of the parent article. |
