Summary
[edit | edit source]Master of Orion II's main screen.
Most of it is a zoom-able (not scrollable) map of the galaxy. The "blobs" are stars, with names color-coded to show which empires have colonies around them. Dotted lines show ship movements.
Clicking on a star produces a pop-up window which shows the planets around that star; and moving the mouse over a planet shows its type, maximum and current populations and any fixed defenses it has. Clicking on a planet which is one of your empire's colonies displays the colony information screen, which has a link to the colony's Build menu.
Clicking a fleet (small triangle in your empire's color) allows you to give orders and shows a pop-up which shows each ship in the fleet. This pop-up allows you to select or unselect ships before giving orders, and to display details of any ship in the fleet.
The buttons on the bottom give access to various menus, and the picture of a microscope near the bottom of the right sidebar accesses the Research menu.
