This media file has been nominated for deletion since 27 June 2026. To discuss it, please visit the nomination page.
Do not remove this tag until the deletion nomination is closed. Reason for the nomination: Delete. The file is licensed solely under PD-SG-photo, which establishes only that the photograph is currently public domain in Singapore. No evidence has been provided that the work was also public domain in the United States or that it escaped copyright restoration under the URAA. This is an individual photograph published in Singapore in 1953 by an unknown photographer. The file page provides no evidence that the photograph was free of copyright in Singapore on the relevant URAA restoration date, nor any analysis demonstrating that U.S. copyright was not restored. The current licensing therefore addresses only present-day Singapore status and does not establish freedom in the United States. The fact that the image was reproduced in a newspaper does not by itself establish public-domain status for the underlying photograph. Copyright in the newspaper page and copyright in the individual photographic work are separate issues, and no evidence has been provided that the photograph itself was free of copyright in both Singapore and the United States. This appears comparable to Commons:Deletion requests/File:Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (most left) and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah (far right) sitting around the table with their classmates at King Edward VII College of Medicine, Singapore.jpg, where a Singapore photograph depicting Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali during their student years in the late 1940s to early 1950s was nominated for deletion because freedom in the United States had not been established and URAA concerns remained unresolved. Similar concerns apply here. Per COM:PRP, the burden of proof lies with the uploader. In the absence of evidence demonstrating that the photograph is free in both the source country and the United States, the file should not be hosted on Commons.
