It was established in 1989 by the UK's leading alcohol producers to promote responsible drinking; to help prevent alcohol misuse; etc. (see http://www.portmangroup.org.uk/about). Illustration is part of guidance provided to member companies as to how to comply with voluntary labelling scheme agreed between UK alcohol companies and UK Department of Health (see http://www.portmangroup.org.uk/codes/alcohol-marketing/alcohol-labelling).
