| Purpose of use |
To illustrate a poignant scene in the episode (infobox). "Closure," written by series creator Chris Carter and executive producer Frank Spotnitz, brought an end to Mulder's quest for his sister, Samantha, who had been abducted when he was a child. During filming of the scene, David Duchovny decided to act out the reunion scene, contrary to what the script said: instead of crying, Duchovny smiled. Director Kim Manners was very happy with the change and included it in the final cut of the episode.
