To illustrate an original encyclopedic article about the subject, on Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. The image is used to illustrate to a reader the visage of Barry Peter Prudom, at the time the most wanted man in Britain, and historically significant as being subjuct of one of the largest police manhunts in Yorkshire, involving pioneering techniques in police IT for the management of complex crime investigations and pioneering use by North Yorkshire police of a computerised system allowing multiple forces to search and share information on the same database.

Other information

The photo is of a lower resolution than the source, which is already of a reduced resolution from the original photograph, taken in the late 1970s. The image was released to the media and public for broad distribution by the police during the manhunt for the subject, who would not lose profit from its further distribution. It was reproduced on police "Wanted" posters nationwide. It is believed to be free for distribution and reuse. It was extensively disseminated in the news media, both TV and print, since its first release in 1982 and is the only known portrait-style image of the subject. No further free image is likely to be created as the subject has been deceased since 1982. It lacks significant creative elements.
