Witchrot is a Canadian doom metal band from Toronto, Ontario.[1][2] The band received international media coverage in 2018 after a breakup announcement posted to Facebook went viral.[1][5][7]
History

[edit | edit source]In late 2018, Witchrot drew widespread attention following viral coverage of a breakup announcement.[1][5] The band later stated it would continue, clarifying that the drummer's reported death was not factual.[2][5][8]
Hollow (2021)
[edit | edit source]Witchrot released its debut studio album, Hollow, in 2021.[4]
Live in the Hammer (2022)
[edit | edit source]The band released the live album Live in the Hammer in 2022.[9] According to the album notes, it was recorded on November 21, 2021 at Boxcar Sound in Hamilton, Ontario, and featured guest appearances by Daniel DeKay (Exciter) and Laura C. Bates (Völur).[6][9]
Soul Cellar (2025)
[edit | edit source]Witchrot's studio album Soul Cellar was released in May 2025.[3] Metal Injection reported that the album was recorded at Simcoe Mechanical and Palace Sound, mixed by Dylan Frankland, mastered by Tony Reed, and featured artwork by ZZ Corpse.[3]
