Butterfly Jam is an upcoming American and French film, the first English-language feature from writer and director Kantemir Balagov. It is starring Riley Keough, Barry Keoghan and Harry Melling.
Premise
[edit | edit source]The film centres on a Circassian circus troupe in New Jersey, and a young man who is training to be a wrestler whilst also working in his father's Circassian restaurant.[1]

Production
[edit | edit source]The film was first reported as in development in 2022.[2] It was written Kantemir Balagov and Maria Stepnova, with Balagov directing his first English-language feature film. It was produced by Pascal Caucheteux for Why Not Productions and Alexander Rodnyansky for AR Content, who providing financing for the project. Executive producers included Livia Van der Staay from Goodfellas, and the film was made in co-production with Arte France Cinéma with cinematography by Jomo Fray.[3][1]
The cast is led by Barry Keoghan and Riley Keogh.[4] Harry Melling joined the cast in April 2025.[5] The cast also includes Tommy McInnis and Monica Bellucci.[1]
Principal photography began on 2 April 2025 and took place in Northern France with the film had entering post-production by June 2025.[1][6]
